Chelmsford's wedding venues span everything from stately parkland mansions to converted Essex barns, and what works in one won't work in another. Here's how I approach Chelmsford wedding decor hire across the venue types I see most in the area.
These rooms do a lot of the work for you. Hylands House has a gilded Banqueting Room and a Drawing Room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking 574 acres of parkland. The risk is competing with interiors that already have presence. I'll usually recommend tall pedestal arrangements flanking the aisle, a statement ceremony arch scaled to the room's proportions, and restrained table styling: white or ivory linen, charger plates, tapered candles, and low, abundant centrepieces that don't block the view across the table. David Austin roses, ranunculus, and trailing greenery suit these spaces beautifully. Less, done with intention, always wins in a grand room.
Essex has some of the best barn venues in the south-east, and the thatched Essex Barn at Channels is a proper example: all character, exposed beams, and warm light. Barn weddings call for a softer, earthier palette. Think dried florals mixed with seasonal fresh stems, wooden table runners, amber-glass votives, meadow-style arrangements in bud vases and ceramic pots, and a loose floral arch at the entrance rather than something rigid. Sage, blush, cream, and burnt orange work well here. The mistake I see couples make is over-decorating a barn that already has warmth built in. Let the timber lead and layer gently around it.
Country houses in and around Chelmsford tend toward the romantic: private gardens, panelled interiors, big fireplaces, and that particular Essex-Victorian elegance. These venues love a garden-inspired scheme. Mantelpiece installations spilling seasonal blooms, aisle markers continuing out into the gardens, soft colour palettes (cream, lavender, dusty rose, sage green), and sweet peas or garden roses when they're in season. If the venue has an orangery or conservatory, trailing greenery along the framework gives you a lush, enclosed feel without any rigging. A free-standing floral arch in the garden is one of the most photographed setups I do.
Chelmsford has a growing number of flexible, larger-capacity spaces that give couples total creative freedom. The trade-off is that blank-canvas rooms need more styling to feel finished. Your colour palette and florals have to do the heavy lifting here. Hanging installations, neon signage, bold centrepieces, and colour-block tablescapes can transform a plain room into something your guests won't stop talking about. This is also where more adventurous couples can commit to a theme without fighting the venue's own character. Disco, monochrome, Mediterranean, tropical - the room won't argue with you.
Ask any of the hundreds of couples I've worked with, and they'll tell you I love my job.
I started this wedding decoration business with one goal: to take the stress out of hiring the right wedding decor. The level of detail I put into item selection and design allows me to add a special touch to your big day.
From the moment you walk down the aisle into your ceremony room, up until your last drink at the reception, I'll make sure every part of the venue meets your standards.
If you're ready to plan the perfect wedding, let me know. I can work with you on the cost and which decoration package is best for you.

The Old NeneA small look at the atmosphere, florals, and finishing touches we bring together for our couples.
Chelmsford sits where two rivers meet, surrounded by rolling Essex countryside, and it's been one of the best wedding locations in the county for years. From the gilded ceilings of Hylands House to the thatched barn at Channels Estate, this city gives couples a genuine choice between grand and intimate, formal and relaxed, all within half an hour of London.
We're here to make those rooms feel like yours. As your Chelmsford wedding decorator, we design and style decor that fits your venue, your colours, and the atmosphere you want your guests to walk into.
If you're looking for wedding decor hire in Chelmsford that's thoughtful, well-finished, and built around the space you've chosen, Events By Beau can help.
We start with a conversation about your venue and your vision. From there, we put together a design, share a clear timeline, and handle all coordination with your venue so you're not chasing emails on a Tuesday evening when you should be watching telly.
On the morning of your wedding, we arrive first and leave last. We lay linens, dress chairs, place candles, arrange florals, hang backdrops, and move pieces between ceremony and reception so the day flows without you thinking about logistics. We label every box, bring spares for anything breakable, and leave the venue exactly as we found it. The small details on a wedding morning are the ones your guests notice most.
Our design approach starts with mood, not a checklist. We'll suggest seasonal florals, layered table arrangements, statement centrepieces, and focal installations that suit the proportions of your room. Then we build outward: textured accessories, candlelight at the right height, and enough variety to keep the eye moving without overcrowding the space.
How you book us is flexible. Choose straightforward hire of the pieces you need, or go end-to-end with design, styling, and on-the-day setup. Whether the brief is modern, romantic, rustic, or bold, we'll keep the thread consistent across every room.
We've styled weddings across Chelmsford and the wider Essex area — from Grade II* listed estates in Hylands Park to country houses in Great Baddow, thatched barns near Little Waltham, and hotel venues on the outskirts towards Boreham and Stock.
Share your date, a few images that excite you, and the venue you've booked. We'll come back with options that work for your space and your budget: the right pieces, the right scale, and a room that feels like the beginning of something.
Full pricing is on the package cards above. As a rough guide, most Chelmsford weddings I style sit between £2,200 and £4,500, depending on guest numbers, venue size, and level of styling. Bespoke packages for larger or more complex Chelmsford venues start from £5,000.
Yes. I cover the whole of Chelmsford and the wider Essex area, including Great Baddow, Boreham, Stock, Writtle, and villages further into the Essex countryside.
I've styled weddings at venues across the Chelmsford area and wider Essex. If your venue isn't on my recent venues list, drop me a message with the name. I'll have decorated or worked somewhere with a similar layout and set of restrictions.
12 to 18 months is standard, especially if you're getting married between May and September. I take a limited number of weddings per year, and Saturday dates in summer book out first. That said, if you're working to a shorter timeline, still get in touch. I do occasionally have last-minute availability.
Yes. Every package can be tailored to your venue, colour scheme, and guest count. Popular add-ons include charger plates, ceremony arches and flower walls. If you want something completely bespoke, my custom service starts from £5,000.
Most venues in the Chelmsford area have rules around open flame, ceiling fixings, and wall attachments. I'll check with your venue coordinator before finalising the design. If they won't allow real candles, we'll use high-quality LED candles. Restrictions shape the design, but they don't limit it.
Yes. If you've sourced your own decor and just need professional setup on the day, I offer a lend-a-hand service from £1000 plus delivery. It's popular with DIY couples who want a clean, polished finish without full-service styling.
