Create a stunning statement with pure white florals, baby's breath clouds, and classic elegance for your perfect day.

Both can look beautiful on the day. The best fit usually comes down to the overall look you want, your venue setup, and how much flexibility you need from morning through to evening.

Every Colchester venue has its own personality, and the decor that suits a Norman keep won't suit a barn in Coggeshall. Here's how I approach styling across the city's most-booked venue types.
The historic city-centre venues come with their own architectural weight, which means decor needs to complement rather than compete. Overcrowding a Norman keep with florals fights the room. I usually recommend a single statement ceremony arch sized to the proportions of the space, tall pedestal arrangements either side of the aisle, and restrained but elegant table styling: white linen, charger plates, tapered candles, and compact centrepieces that let your guests see each other across the table. Heritage venues also tend to have firm rules around open flame and wall fixings, so we plan around those early. Less, done beautifully, always wins here.
Country house weddings around Colchester call for a softer, more romantic register. These venues lean traditional, with sweeping lawns, panelled rooms, and grand fireplaces that practically ask for a country garden theme. Abundant greenery, garden roses, sweet peas (in season), mantelpiece installations, and aisle markers running into the gardens work beautifully. Cream, sage, blush, and soft lavender feel right here. If you've got access to the gardens for the ceremony, which Layer Marney's grounds and Wivenhoe's parkland both allow in good weather, a free-standing floral arch against the landscape is one of the most photographed setups I do.
The barn and rural venues out towards Constable Country are a different brief again. Original beams, exposed brick, and timber bones do the heavy lifting, so the decor's job is to add warmth without competing. Long banquet tables with a runner of foraged greenery, eucalyptus, astrantia, and seasonal blooms in muted tones (terracotta, mustard, dusty pink) feel right. Hanging installations work beautifully where the ceiling allows: fairy light canopies, suspended floral clouds, or simple festoon. I'd avoid anything too polished here. The point of a barn wedding is the texture; chrome and high gloss fight it.
Mersea is its own world: salt marshes, oyster beds, big skies. The styling brief shifts to lean into the light and the landscape rather than fight it. Loose, garden-style florals in soft whites, blues, and greens work better than anything tightly structured. Driftwood, linen runners (creased rather than ironed sharp), pampas, and seeded eucalyptus all fit the setting. For ceremonies in the walled garden at East Mersea Hall, an unstructured floral arch with trailing greenery photographs beautifully without overdressing the space. Coastal weddings forgive less when you over-style; they reward restraint.
Ask any of the hundreds of couples I've worked with, and they'll tell you I love my job.
I started this wedding decoration business with one goal: to take the stress out of hiring the right wedding decor. The level of detail I put into item selection and design allows me to add a special touch to your big day.
From the moment you walk down the aisle into your ceremony room, up until your last drink at the reception, I'll make sure every part of the venue meets your standards.
If you're ready to plan the perfect wedding, let me know. I can work with you on the cost and which decoration package is best for you.

The Old NeneA small look at the atmosphere, florals, and finishing touches we bring together for our couples.
Colchester sits on layers most cities don't have: Roman walls, a Norman keep, the timber-framed streets of the Dutch Quarter, and the green calm of Dedham Vale fifteen minutes out of town. It's a city that earned its status the long way round.
Our job is to make the room you're getting married in feel as considered as the city around it. As your Colchester wedding decorator, we listen to what you want the day to feel like, and shape the styling around the venue you've already fallen for.
If you're looking for wedding decor hire in Colchester that's properly thought-through, beautifully finished, and built around your specific venue, Events By Beau can help.
Here's how we work. We agree a design with you, share a clear timeline, and handle the coordination with your venue so you don't have to chase anyone.
On the day, we're first in and last out: laying linens, dressing chairs, placing candles, arranging florals, and moving pieces between ceremony and reception so everything flows. We label boxes, bring spares, and leave the venue the way we found it — because the small things matter most on a wedding morning.
Design starts with mood. We'll suggest seasonal florals, hand-tied bouquets, layered table arrangements, focal centrepieces, and statement backdrops. From there we add the details that make a room feel intentional rather than busy: textured accessories, useful props, and height that pulls the eye.
How you book us is flexible. Choose straightforward hire of the pieces you need, or go end-to-end with design, styling, and on-the-day coordination. The brief can lean modern, romantic, rustic, or coastal — we'll keep the thread consistent across every space.
We've styled weddings across Colchester and the wider North Essex area — heritage venues in the city centre, country houses out towards Dedham Vale, barn venues in the surrounding villages, and coastal weddings on Mersea Island.
Share your date, a few images you love, and the venue you've chosen. We'll come back with options that fit your space and budget: the right pieces, the right pace, and a room that feels like the start of your marriage.
Full pricing is on the package cards above. As a rough guide, most Colchester weddings I style with full decor packages sit between £2,400 and £4,500, depending on guest numbers and the level of styling. Bespoke packages for larger or more unusual Colchester venues start from £5,000.
Yes. I cover the whole of Colchester and the wider North Essex area, including Dedham Vale, Mersea Island, Coggeshall, Wivenhoe, and the surrounding villages out towards the Suffolk border.
I've styled weddings at Colchester Castle, Colchester Town Hall, Wivenhoe House, Layer Marney Tower, Prested Hall, Houchins, Stoke by Nayland, and East Mersea Hall, among others. If your venue isn't on my "recent venues" list, tell me where. I'll have either decorated there or worked somewhere similar.
12 to 18 months is standard, especially for peak season (May to September). I take a limited number of weddings each year, and Saturday dates in summer tend to book out first. That said, if your date is closer than that, please still get in touch. I occasionally have last-minute availability.
Absolutely. Every package I offer can be tailored around your specific venue, colour scheme, and guest count. Popular add-ons include charger plates, ceremony arches and flower walls. If you want something completely bespoke, my custom service starts at £5,000.
A lot of Colchester's heritage venues, particularly the Castle and Town Hall, have rules around open flame, rigging, and wall fixings. I've worked within all of them, and I'll check with your venue before finalising the design. If they won't allow real candles, we'll use high-quality LED candles. Restrictions shape the design, but they rarely kill it.
Yes. If you've sourced your own decor and just need help setting it up on the day, I offer a "lend a hand" service from £1000 plus delivery. Popular with DIY couples who want a professional finish without full-service styling.
