Wedding Decor Hire in Leeds

Every Leeds venue has its own personality, and the styling that suits a former brewery won't suit a Grade II merchant hall. Here's how I approach decor across the city's most-booked venue types.

For industrial venues like The Tetley, Canal Mills, and Chapter Hall

Leeds has more former-industrial wedding venues than most UK cities, and they reward couples who lean into the space rather than fight it. The mistake I see most often is heavy decor trying to soften the brick and steel. It ends up looking like a warehouse pretending to be a marquee. The opposite works. Let the original features lead, and use long trailing eucalyptus down the tables, amber-glass votives, and low-hanging pendant or festoon lighting to balance the hard edges. A single floral installation in a warm palette (rust, terracotta, dusty pink, or burgundy) lifts the room without competing with it. Think warm, layered, and a little bit moody.

For Grade II and heritage venues like The Mansion, The Leeds Club, and The Met Hotel

Leeds's heritage venues are merchant-class grand: panelling, plasterwork, original fireplaces, and (in places like The Met and The Queens) full art deco bones. The room is already doing 70% of the work, so the decor needs to complement, not crowd. I usually recommend a statement ceremony arch that echoes the room's proportions, tall pedestal arrangements either side of the aisle, and restrained table styling: white or ivory linen, charger plates, tapered candles, and compact centrepieces guests can see across. Heritage venues also tend to have firm rules around open flame and rigging, so we plan around those early. Less, done properly, always wins in these rooms.

For country houses like Harewood House, Weetwood Hall, and Hazlewood Castle

Country house weddings around Leeds lean romantic and traditional, and the venues themselves give you panelled rooms, grand fireplaces, and grounds that practically ask for a country garden palette. Abundant greenery, garden roses, peonies (in season), mantelpiece installations, and aisle markers running out into the gardens work beautifully here. Soft naturals like cream, sage, blush, and dusty lavender sit best against the architecture. If the venue has a walled garden or a terrace and you've got the weather, a free-standing floral arch outside is one of the most photographed setups I do. For blank-canvas and unusual venues like Left Bank Leeds and New Craven Hall

Leeds's blank-canvas spaces, like the Grade II former church at Left Bank in Headingley, urban warehouse spaces in the Cultural Quarter, and gallery-style venues, give you the most freedom and therefore need the most thought. When the room isn't telling you what to do, your colour palette, lighting plan, and floral choices have to lead. Hanging floral installations, neon signage, bold colour-block tablescapes, and a defined lighting scheme (warm uplighters, festoons, pin-spots on the centrepieces) all work brilliantly. This is also where braver couples can go heavier on theme (black and white, Mediterranean, full disco) without clashing with the venue's own character.
